Paris Marathon: 5 things to do right after the race
You just crossed the finish line of the Paris Marathon.
42.195 km.
Months of training.
A unique atmosphere.
👉 What now?
What you do in the hours that follow is just as important as the race itself.
1. Rehydrate immediately
After a marathon, your body is depleted:
- water
- minerals
- energy
👉 Drink regularly, even if you're not thirsty.
Ideally:
- water + electrolyte-rich drink
- small sips, regularly
2. Eat (even if you're not hungry)
You might not be hungry. That's normal.
But your body needs it:
- carbohydrates → replenish energy
- proteins → repair muscles
👉 A simple meal is enough: sandwich, fruit, recovery drink.
3. Walk (do not stop abruptly)
Classic mistake:
👉 sit down immediately
Result:
- legs stiffen
- more difficult recovery
👉 Walk for 10 to 15 minutes to restart circulation.
4. Take care of your legs
After 42 km, your legs have taken a beating.
What helps:
- light stretching
- lukewarm or cool shower
- massage or foam roller
👉 The goal: limit muscle soreness.
5. Enjoy… and keep a record
You just did something HUGE.
And yet, many do this:
👉 medal in a bag
👉 bib forgotten
👉 Bad idea.
These objects are your effort.
Your goal achieved.
Your story.
The right reflex
- keep your medal visible
- keep your bib
- create a tangible souvenir
👉 Because this moment deserves better than a drawer.
Conclusion
The Paris Marathon doesn't stop at the finish line.
👉 It continues in recovery
👉 and in how you preserve that memory
👉 Drink. Eat. Recover.
👉 And most importantly: be proud of what you've accomplished.
